Martin nets hat trick, leads Rochester Mayo to 8-2 win over Albert LeaRochester: Graham Arena 1 Sat, Jan 26, 2013 The Albert Lea Tigers could not stop the Rochester Mayo Spartans' Ryan Martin, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-2 win. Martin's first goal came 13:40 into the second period. He then added goals at 13:03 into the third and at 14:45 into the third.Rochester Mayo stifled Albert Lea's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Spartans forced the Tigers goalie Garret Matz to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Rochester Mayo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Spartans average 3.8 goals per contest. Rochester Mayo also got points from Adam Alcott, who also had one goal and two assists and Max Whitney, who also registered one goal and two assists. Tommy Fjelsted also scored for Rochester Mayo. In addition, Rochester Mayo received assists from Justyn Sweet, who had three and Tommy Hanson, Nick Newman, Ethan Moore, and James Johnston, who each chipped in one. Albert Lea could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. Rochester Mayo's Case Hansen stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced.
