Rochester Mayo hangs on, beats Rochester John Marshall 2-0

The Rochester Mayo Spartans beat the Rochester John Marshall Rockets, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 2:14 into the the first period by Adam Alcott proved to be the game winner, and powered Rochester Mayo to the victory.

The Spartans were boosted by Case Hansen, who turned in a shutout with 33 saves. The solid play of Hansen will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.57.

Rochester Mayo was paced by Alcott, who grabbed one goal.

Nolan Edwards also scored for Rochester Mayo. Other players who recorded assists for Rochester Mayo were Tommy Hanson and Matt Rogers, who each chipped in one.

Rochester John Marshall did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Rockets put an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. Rochester John Marshall's offense rang up 33 shots on the Spartans' net.

Rochester Mayo finished the contest with no penalties and went 1-for-0 with the man advantage. Jake Garvey rejected 16 shots on goal for the Rockets. Rochester John Marshall ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play.
