Baumann's hat trick boosts Lakeville South over Rochester Century, 12-2

A hat trick by Weston Baumann was the highlight in Cougars' 12-2 win against the Rochester Century Panthers.

Baumann got on the scoresheet 10:15 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:36 into the first and at 10:16 into the second.

The Lakeville South Cougars scored early and often, and held a 6-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

Lakeville South managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Cougars wound up below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game. Lakeville South found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Cougars average 3.6 goals per contest. Lakeville South was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play. By firing 40 shots on goal, the Cougars exceeded the 1.4 shot they average per game this year.

Lakeville South also got points from Nick Oelrich, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Ben Freemark, who also had three goals and one assist, Mack Farley, who also registered one goal and three assists, and Nick Swaney, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Patrick Lauderdale also scored for Lakeville South. In addition, Lakeville South received assists from Leo Steinmetz, Matt Lembeck, and Drew Byers, who contributed one a piece and Jake Rahbain, Cameron Jackson, and Patrick Daly, who each chipped in two.

Lakeville South's defense shut down Rochester Century's forwards for much of the game, and the Panthers got off only 10 shots during the contest.

The Cougars took out Daniel Swail after he had made five saves and installed Tyler Schumacher in goal, where he finished with three saves and the win. Carter Downs made 16 saves before being replaced by Eric Rohleder, who took the loss and made 12 saves. Rochester Century incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
