Minneapolis holds on for 4-3 win against Providence Academy

The Minneapolis Novas survived a determined comeback attempt by the Providence Academy Lions on the way to a 4-3 win.

Minneapolis made the score 4-2 on a goal by Henry Christman at 39 seconds in the third period, and Providence Academy got as close as 4-3 when Jack McGeehan scored 2:50 into the third period.

The Novas got the win on the strength of a great game by Christman, who had two goals and one assist. Christman scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minneapolis. Minneapolis had taken the advantage when the Lions' Matt Murphy got sent off for interference. Joe Guimont picked up the assist. Christman's next tally on the power play made the score Minneapolis with 19:21 left in the third period. Guimont assisted on the tally.

Minneapolis also got a goal from Ross Nesbit as well. More assists for Minneapolis came via Cris Grassel and Stellan Christensen, who contributed one a piece.

Providence Academy also got points from Ryan Tapani, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Providence Academy were Jack McGinty, who had one.

Erik Toftner recorded 19 saves for the Novas. Minneapolis totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Providence Academy's Danny Noble stopped 18 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Lions incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
