Princeton beats St. Cloud Apollo 6-3 as Green gets hat trick

Jake Green netted a hat trick to lead the Princeton Tigers over the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles, 6-3.

Green got on the scoresheet 2:10 into the second period. He then added goals at 3:56 into the second and at 14:31 into the second.

Princeton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Cloud Apollo to score on any of its four power plays.

Princeton additionally got points from Daniel Voce, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Collin Buness, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Dan Muench, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Princeton came via A.J. Wesloh, Chase Lindenfelser, Jordan Forschen, Joey Stenslie, Justin Sjoquist, and Tommy Schroepfer, who each chipped in one.

The Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

St. Cloud Apollo was helped by Paul Kenney, who registered two goals. Kenney scored the first of his two goals at 2:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Cloud Apollo. Jason Omann assisted on the tally. Kenney's next tally made the score 2-0 St. Cloud Apollo with 8:00 left in the first period. The Eagles were on a disadvantage when Eric Christiansen went off the ice for boarding. Jared Christen provided the assist. St. Cloud Apollo also got points from Christen, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for St. Cloud Apollo were Brandon Bloch, who had one.

The Tigers' Max Mattson stopped 16 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Princeton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nick Althaus rejected 14 shots on goal for St. Cloud Apollo. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
