Huge game by Fjelsted boosts Rochester Mayo over Owatonna, 7-2

Behind a great game by Tommy Fjelsted, who had one goal and two assists, the Rochester Mayo Spartans defeated the Owatonna Huskies, 7-2.

Fjelsted beat Luke Ebeling with a shot 12:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Rochester Mayo. Ryan Martin picked up the assist. Fjelsted dished an assist on Justyn Sweet's goal that made the score 1-1 at 8:57 into the first period. He added another helper on Max Whitney's goal that made the score 6-1 Rochester Mayo at 4:05 into the third period.

Rochester Mayo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Owatonna power plays. The Spartans' goal total was higher than their season average. Rochester Mayo averages 4.0 goals per game.

Rochester Mayo also got points from Adam Alcott, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tommy Hanson also scored for Rochester Mayo. Other players who recorded assists for Rochester Mayo were Nick Newman and Matt Rogers, who contributed one a piece.

Owatonna was led by Brandon Wencl, who finished with one goal. Wencl scored 6:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Owatonna. Jordan Klein provided the assist. Owatonna also got a goal from Matt Ratzloff as well. In addition, Owatonna received assists from Erik Colstrup, who had one.

Case Hansen made 21 saves for the Spartans on 23 shots. Rochester Mayo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ebeling rejected 17 shots on goal for the Huskies. Owatonna ended with 41 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors.
