Orono blows out Waconia, 5-1Orono Ice Arena Thu, Dec 06, 2012 The Orono Spartans were firing on all cylinders against the Waconia Wildcats, and when the final buzzer sounded Spartans emerged with a 5-1 win. Orono was led by Will LeNeave, who finished with one goal. LeNeave scored on the power play 10:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Orono. The Spartans had gotten the advantage when Waconia's Brady Turner was sent off for holding. Derek Limesand assisted on the tally. Orono was not heavily penalized during the game, and finished with five minors and two majors totalling 20 minutes. The Spartans fell short of the 27.0 minutes average penalties per game. Orono's offense rang up 39 shots on the Wildcats' net. The Spartans bested their season scoring average. This season, Orono averages 2.7 goals per contest. Orono additionally got points from Nick Schroeder, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Zach Grochowski also scored for Orono. More assists for Orono came via Wil Horoshak, who had two and Ellis Noerenber, Noah Schultz, and Silas Cleveland, who contributed one a piece. Waconia also got a goal from Tanner Riebel as well.
