North Shore uses fast start to beat Moose Lake Area, 8-2

A five-goal first period deficit cost the Moose Lake Area Rebels, which could not recover and fell to North Shore, 8-2.

North Shore was paced by Nick Johnson, who registered one goal. Johnson scored on the power play 1:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North Shore. Corey Johnson provided the assist.

North Shore outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, North Shore averages 4.1 goals per contest. North Shore capitalized on Moose Lake Area's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. North Shore got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

North Shore additionally got points from Tyler Schramm, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Thomas Anderson, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Jonah Koehler, who also had one goal and one assist. Brock LeBlanc also scored for North Shore. Other players who recorded assists for North Shore were Mike Nordean, Lucas Kempffer, Chad Smuk, and Bradley Rowlee, who each chipped in one and Austyn Wasko and Marcus Small, who contributed two a piece.

The Rebels did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force 10 saves.

North Shore's Zach Duresky stopped 10 shots out of the 12 that he faced. North Shore incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gage Mohelsky made 10 saves for Moose Lake Area on 18 shots. The Rebels totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play.
