Davis' hat trick boosts New Ulm over Waseca, 9-3

A hat trick by Judd Davis was the highlight in Eagles' 9-3 win against the Waseca Bluejays.

Davis notched his first tally 4:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:44 into the first and at 2:15 into the third.

The New Ulm Eagles scored early and often, and held a 4-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

New Ulm kept Waseca's goalie busy throughout the game, and Austin Stroda made 53 saves on 62 shots. The Eagles bested their season scoring average. New Ulm has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

New Ulm additionally got points from Collin Kral, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Blake Neumann, who also grabbed two goals and three assists, and Josh Cooper, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ryan Busch also scored for New Ulm. Other players who recorded assists for New Ulm were Jon Kopacek, who had two, Wyatt Peterson, who had five, and Brandon Helget and Chad Ludewig, who contributed one a piece.

The Bluejays did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 11 saves.

Waseca was led by JP Eykyn, who tallied one goal and one assist. Eykyn scored 1:29 into the third period to make the score 6-3 New Ulm. Waseca also got a goal from Michael Priebe as well. More assists for Waseca came via Cody Ulfers, who had one.

Matt Berkner recorded 11 saves for the Eagles. New Ulm incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bluejays incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
