Mound-Westonka uses big second period to beat New Ulm, 6-0

The Mound-Westonka Whitehawks used a three-goal second period to put away the New Ulm Eagles, 6-0.

Ben O Barsky quarterbacked Mound-Westonka's offense to perfection and bagged four assists in the Whitehawks' win over New Ulm.

Mound-Westonka's defense was surprisingly good. The Whitehawks gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. Mound-Westonka forced the Eagles goalie Brach Kraus to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots. The Whitehawks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Mound-Westonka averages 3.1 goals per contest. The Whitehawks was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

Mound-Westonka additionally got points from Hunter Smith, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Jack Brandstetter, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Charlie Curti, who also registered one goal and three assists. Mound-Westonka also got a goal from Blake Brady as well. In addition, Mound-Westonka received assists from Kyle Luehman, who had one.

New Ulm's offense operated below it season average. The Eagles average 3.6 goals per game.

Mound-Westonka's Andy Seats stopped 17 shots out of the 17 that he faced. The Whitehawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brach Kraus made 51 saves for New Ulm on 57 shots. The Eagles totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
