Delano/Rockford falls to Mound-Westonka in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Mound-Westonka Whitehawks pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Delano/Rockford Tigers on a clutch goal by Hunter Smith.

Smith had a great game for Mound-Westonka, netting two goals. Smith scored at 8:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 4:03 into the fourth to make the score 5-4 Mound-Westonka.

The Whitehawks put 40 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.2 they average per game.

Mound-Westonka additionally got points from Jack Brandstetter, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Charlie Curti, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Mound-Westonka also got a goal from Jeremy Schulz as well. More assists for Mound-Westonka came via Nick Tschida, who had one and Tommy Ewing, who had two.

Delano/Rockford was helped by Justin Oja, who finished with two goals. Oja scored the first of his two goals at 15:06 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Adam McLain picked up the assist. Oja's next tally made the score 3-3 with 10:46 left in the second period. The Tigers had taken the advantage when Mound-Westonka's Blake Brady got sent off for hooking. Grant Prinsen assisted on the tally. Delano/Rockford also got points from McLain, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Hunter Hart also scored for Delano/Rockford. Other players who recorded assists for Delano/Rockford were Jack Nelson, who had one and Eric Ylitalo, who had two.

Andy Seats rejected 20 shots on goal for the Whitehawks. Mound-Westonka incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Aaron Grangroth recorded 35 saves for Delano/Rockford. The Tigers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
