Huge game by Carey boosts Moorhead over Buffalo, 4-1

Behind a great game by Thomas Carey, who had two goals and two assists, the Moorhead Spuds defeated the Buffalo Bison, 4-1.

Carey scored at 16:15 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 16:37 into the second to make the score 2-1 Moorhead.

Moorhead put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Buffalo to score on any of its four power plays. The Spuds' offense rang up 38 shots on the Bison's net.

Moorhead also got points from Nicholas Uglem, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Will Borgen, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Moorhead received assists from Alex Mehnert, Tony Uglem, and Eric Barker, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo was led by Aaron Rouse, who scored the team's only goal. Rouse scored 8:54 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Jack Patnode picked up the assist.

Jacob Dittmer recorded 17 saves for Moorhead. The Spuds totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Bison's Ben Zitur stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Buffalo ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
