Campbell's big game bests Winona in 5-1 Mankato West win

Nicholas Campbell was all over the ice for the Mankato West Scarlets, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Mankato West's 5-1 win over the Winona Winhawks.

Campbell got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 8:43 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mankato West. The Scarlets had gained a power play chance when Jake Kline was whistled for elbowing. Galt Goettl picked up the assist. Campbell dished an assist on Derek Frentz's goal that made the score 1-0 Mankato West at 3:17 into the first period. He then added assists on Goettl's goal at 12:24 into the first and on Goettl's goal at 10:47 into the second.

Mankato West forced Winona goalie Andrew Yeske to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Mankato West also got points from Frentz, who also tallied one goal and three assists and Goettl, who also grabbed three goals and two assists. In addition, Mankato West received assists from Max Mettler, who had one.

The Winhawks' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Winona gives up 2.5 goals per game.

Jake Spiess rejected 14 shots on goal for the Scarlets. Mankato West incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Yeske recorded 39 saves for the Winhawks. Winona incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
