Mankato West survives Rochester Century comeback, wins 3-1

The Mankato West Scarlets, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Mankato West and clinched a 3-1 victory.

The Scarlets led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Mankato West's Ryan Jutting's scored at 16:20 in the first period to put the Scarlets up 3-0.

Mankato West's penalty kill excelled, as the Scarlets gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Mankato West was paced by Scott McKissick, who tallied one goal. McKissick scored on the power play 6:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mankato West. The Scarlets had gotten the advantage when the Rochester Century Panthers' Alex Ney was sent off for boarding. Nate Krueger picked up the assist.

Mankato West was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The Scarlets had been averaging 10.0 minutes in penalties per game. Mankato West did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Scarlets average 5.6 goals per game. Mankato West's offense rang up 31 shots on Rochester Century's net.

Mankato West also got a goal from Galt Goettl as well. More assists for Mankato West came via Derek Frentz and Zach Erickson, who contributed one a piece.

The Panthers were led by Hayden Ashworth, who scored the team's only goal. Ashworth scored on the power play 13:41 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Mankato West. Rochester Century earned a power play opportunity when Conor Wollenzien was put in the box for slashing. Jacob Roth provided the assist.

Wollenzien recorded 16 saves for the Scarlets. Mankato West registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Eric Rohleder made 28 saves for the Panthers on 31 shots. Rochester Century ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
