The Mankato West Scarlets relied on the scoring touch of Derek Frentz, who netted four goals, to beat the Austin Packers, 7-0.

Frentz's first goal came 11:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:19 into the second, at 12:16 into the second, and at 1:40 into the third.

Mankato West stifled Austin's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Scarlets forced the Packers goalie Rainer Londino-Green to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Mankato West also got points from Nick Campbell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Cole Filler, who also registered one goal and one assist. Zach Erickson also scored for Mankato West. Other players who recorded assists for Mankato West were Galt Goettl, who had four, Tyler Jutting, Tyler Loe, and Ryan Lindquist, who contributed one a piece, and Scott McKissick and Max Mettler, who each chipped in two.

Austin's offense operated below it season average. The Packers put an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game.

Conor Wollenzien recorded 22 saves for Mankato West. The Scarlets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Londino-Green rejected 24 shots on goal for Austin. The Packers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
