Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter outlasts Mankato East/Loyola, 3-2

The game between the Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter Bulldogs and the Mankato East/Loyola Cougars was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter emerged with a 3-2 win.

The Bulldogs gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jon Favre 10:43 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Sam Wenner had two goals to lead Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter to victory. Wenner scored at 5:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter and again while 7:47 into the third to make the score 2-2.

The Bulldogs managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter ended up below its season average of 3.0 penalty minutes per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter were Austin Braun, Levi Steuck, Brett Zallek, Luke Regner, Brock Solomon, and Mac Malecha, who contributed one a piece.

Mankato East/Loyola stifled the Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Cougars were helped by Brent Adams, who registered one goal. Adams scored 14:46 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Teal Leskey picked up the assist. Brandon Treinen also scored for Mankato East/Loyola. More assists for Mankato East/Loyola came via Brandon Adams, who had one.

Chris Amsden recorded 17 saves for Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter. The Bulldogs registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Mankato East/Loyola's Aaron Kroeber stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Cougars totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
