Gavin's goals lift Mankato East/Loyola to 6-1 victory over Fairmont

Behind a great game by Grayson Gavin, who had two goals, the Mankato East/Loyola Cougars defeated the Fairmont Cardinals, 6-1.

Gavin's tallies came at 4:56 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 6:23 into the first to make the score 3-1 Mankato East/Loyola.

Mankato East/Loyola managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Cougars finished below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. Fairmont was unable to stop Mankato East/Loyola from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Mankato East/Loyola bested its season scoring average. The Cougars have scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

Mankato East/Loyola also got points from Carter Johnson, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Logan Lebert, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mankato East/Loyola also got a goal from Shane Sellner as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mankato East/Loyola were Nick Yess, who had one and Alec Schultz, who had three.
