A hat trick by Chaz Smedsrud was the highlight in Cardinals' 5-1 win against the Hutchinson Tigers.

Smedsrud notched his first tally 11:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:37 into the first and at 12:13 into the third.

Luverne additionally got points from Gunnar Olson, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Luverne also got a goal from Skyler Wenninger as well. Other players who recorded assists for Luverne were Logan Norman, who had two and Austin Maxwell, Jonny Solma, and Connor Hoffman, who each chipped in one.

Kendall Meyer made 22 saves for the Luverne Cardinals on 23 shots. Luverne incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kellyn Buss rejected 23 shots on goal for Hutchinson. The Tigers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
