Holy Family Catholic erases deficit to stun Mound-Westonka, 3-2Victoria Tue, Jan 08, 2013 The Holy Family Catholic Fire climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Mound-Westonka Whitehawks, 3-2. Holy Family Catholic never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Fire fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Mound-Westonka's Kyle Luehman at 11:07 in the first period. Holy Family Catholic knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Sam Stenson at 14:56 in the first period. The Fire got the game winner at 7:54 in the third period on a goal by Stenson. Garret Riebling was all over the ice for Holy Family Catholic, as he racked up two goals in the win. The Fire relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Shane Gersich, Riebling and Stenson took 23 of the team's 41 shots. More assists for Holy Family Catholic came via Joey Marooney, who had two and Jonh Peterson and Will Garin, who each chipped in one. The 21 shots that the Whitehawks put on net surpassed Mound-Westonka's average of 1.5 shot per game this season. The Whitehawks' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 10 shots on net during the game. Blake Brady also scored for Mound-Westonka. Other players who recorded assists for Mound-Westonka were Nick Tschida, Broten Togstad, and Sander Lee, who contributed one a piece. Holy Family Catholic's Derek LaCombe stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Fire totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and had no power play opportunities. Andy Seats made 38 saves for Mound-Westonka on 41 shots. The Whitehawks totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
