Superior WI beats Hermantown 5-4 after comeback scareHermantown Arena Tue, Jan 15, 2013 The Hermantown Hawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Superior WI Spartans would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4. Superior WI took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have Hermantown storm back on a Travis Koepke goal 16:29 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Aaron Miller was all over the ice for the Spartans, as he registered two goals in the win. Superior WI also got points from Tyler Nystrom, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Superior WI also got a goal from Daniel Mikel as well. In addition, Superior WI received assists from Aaron Wakefield-Zubia, who had two and Grant Hanson and Daniel Burger, who contributed one a piece. The Hawks' offense operated below they season average. Hermantown puts an average of 6.6 pucks into the net per game. The Hawks kept Superior WI's goalie busy throughout the game, and Zach Reiswig made 41 saves on 45 shots. Hermantown struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays. Hermantown additionally got points from Scott Wasbotten, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jared Zeleznikar also scored for Hermantown. Other players who recorded assists for Hermantown were Chris Benson, who had two and Christian Wasbotten and Bo Gronseth, who each chipped in one. The Spartans incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jace Thomas recorded 14 saves for the Hawks. Hermantown registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
