Huge game by Thomspon boosts Duluth Denfeld over Greenway, 11-2

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters' Alex Thomspon had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing five assists in his team's 11-2 win over the Greenway Raiders.

Thomspon's tallies came on the power play at 9:33 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Duluth Denfeld and on the power play 13:51 into the first to make the score 3-1 Duluth Denfeld.

Greenway's six penalties came back to haunt it, as the Raiders let up five goals while on the penalty kill.

Duluth Denfeld's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Greenway power plays. The Hunters found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Duluth Denfeld averages 5.4 goals per game. The Hunters' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Duluth Denfeld's offense was clicking better than usual and put 47 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.4 shots per game it averages.

Duluth Denfeld also got points from Levi Talarico, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Patrick Potswald, who also had one goal and three assists, Steven Maciver, who also registered two goals and three assists, Nick Thompson, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Alex Cowan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Duluth Denfeld also had goals scored by Wyatt Wutz, who had one and Trey Opack, who had two. In addition, Duluth Denfeld received assists from Cody Budisalovich and Matthew Mattila, who each chipped in one.

Greenway was helped by Jayden Gangl, who tallied one goal. Gangl scored 3:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Greenway. Alex Troumbly provided the assist. Greenway additionally got points from Troumbly, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Greenway came via Bazil Zuehlke, who had one.

Zach Thompson made 17 saves for the Hunters on 19 shots. Duluth Denfeld incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mike LaDoux recorded 36 saves for the Raiders. Greenway incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
