Rausch's big game bests Detroit Lakes in 5-2 Fergus Falls win

Sam Rausch had two goals and one assist to lead the Fergus Falls Otters to a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Lakes Lakers.

Rausch scored on the power play at 3:59 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 3:55 into the third to make the score 4-2 Fergus Falls.

Fergus Falls stifled Detroit Lakes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Otters kept the Lakers' goalie busy throughout the game, and MacKenzie Steele made 27 saves on 32 shots. The defensemen of Fergus Falls were also effective in Detroit Lakes' zone, and came away with three goals.

Fergus Falls also got points from Lane Rogers, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Fergus Falls also got a goal from Adam Evenson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fergus Falls were Casey Ward, who had two and Joe Nathe, Colton Buseth, and Ean Goos, who contributed one a piece.

The Lakers were helped by Ryan Deconcini, who finished with one goal. Deconcini scored 10:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Detroit Lakes. Austin Rusness provided the assist. Brady Crawford also scored for Detroit Lakes. In addition, Detroit Lakes received assists from Dylan Bremseth, Ben Nelson, and Joe Solberg, who each chipped in one.

Ian Bjorgum rejected 21 shots on goal for the Otters. Fergus Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Detroit Lakes totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
