Moore's hat trick boosts Duluth East over Minnetonka, 4-2

Meirs Moore lifted the Duluth East Greyhounds to a 4-2 victory with a hat trick against the Minnetonka Skippers.

Moore got on the scoresheet 14:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:40 into the second and at 8:18 into the third.

By firing 29 shots on goal, Duluth East exceeded the 5.9 shots it averages per game this year. The Greyhounds took advantage of Minnetonka's penalties, tallying three goals off of four power play opportunities. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Duluth East also got points from Alex Toscano, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Duluth East received assists from Ryan Lundgren, Phil Beaulieu, and Jack Forbort, who contributed one a piece.

The Skippers were held below their usual level of production. Minnetonka averages 4.2 goals per game. The Skippers put 23 shots on net during the contest, more than the 5.5 they average per game.

Minnetonka was helped by Jack Ramsey, who had one goal. Ramsey scored on the power play 4:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minnetonka. The Skippers earned a power play opportunity when Wyatt Irwin was put in the box for elbowing. Jimmy Schuldt picked up the assist. Max Coatta also scored for Minnetonka.

Duluth East's Dylan Parker stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Greyhounds incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Paul Ciaccio recorded 25 saves for Minnetonka. The Skippers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
