Colford's big game bests Providence Academy in 10-1 Breck School win

Behind a great game by Matt Colford, who had four goals and three assists, the Breck School Mustangs defeated the Providence Academy Lions, 10-1.

Colford notched his first tally 6:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 25 seconds into the second, at 12:55 into the second, and at 5:06 into the third.

Breck School excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Providence Academy was unable to stop the Mustangs from sending pucks towards the net, and Breck School eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Mustangs' goal total was higher than their season average. Breck School averages 4.7 goals per game. The Mustangs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Breck School also got points from Thomas Lindstrom, who also tallied three goals and one assist, Jack O''Connor, who also had one goal and one assist, and Michael Orke, who also registered one goal and one assist. Parker Montgomery also scored for Breck School. In addition, Breck School received assists from Ben Gleekel, who had two, Derek Wiitala, who had three, and Lucas McCormick and Justin Paulson, who contributed one a piece.

The Lions were held below their usual level of production. Providence Academy puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. The Lions could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Providence Academy was led by Jake Braun, who scored the team's only goal. Braun scored short handed 12:08 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Breck School. The Lions played down a man on Jack McGeehan's cross checking.

Henry Johnson made 21 saves for Breck School on 22 shots. The Mustangs registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Nick Pruden recorded 30 saves for Providence Academy.
