Brainerd uses big second period to beat Bemidji, 6-0

The Brainerd Warriors scored four goals in the second period to pull away from the Bemidji Lumberjacks and clinch a 6-0 win.

Cole Smith had one goal and three assists to lead Brainerd. Smith scored 14:25 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Brainerd. Logan Rivard assisted on the tally.

The Warriors' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Bemidji power plays. Brainerd's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Warriors allow 2.6 goals per game. Bemidji was unable to stop Brainerd from sending pucks towards the net, and the Warriors eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Brainerd could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Brainerd additionally got points from Rivard, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Brainerd also got a goal from Alexander Mimmack as well. In addition, Brainerd received assists from Griffin Campbel, who had two and Christopher Pohlkamp, who had three.

The Warriors' defense shut down the Lumberjacks' forwards for much of the game, and Bemidji got off only three shots during the contest.

Captain Kyle Helmberger made three saves for Brainerd on three shots. The Warriors registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Gabe Heifort recorded 32 saves for the Lumberjacks. Bemidji incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
