Breck School uses early goal to top Bemidji, 2-0

The Breck School Mustangs took the lead against the Bemidji Lumberjacks in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

A goal 11:34 into the the first period by Michael Orke proved to be the game winner, and powered Breck School to the victory The Mustangs earned a power play opportunity when Mike Sveine was put in the box for too many men. Ben Gleekel picked up the assist.

Breck School was led by Orke, who grabbed one goal.

The Mustangs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Breck School puts an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game. The Mustangs took advantage of Bemidji's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.

Breck School additionally got points from Gleekel, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Breck School received assists from David Husband, who had one and Andrew Keiser, who had two.

The Lumberjacks' offense were handcuffed by Breck School's defensive play, and Bemidji managed only four shots on goal during the game.

The Mustangs' Henry Johnson stopped four shots out of the four that he faced. Breck School incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jack Schmidgall made 13 saves for the Lumberjacks on 15 shots. Bemidji incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
