Becker-Big Lake uses fast start to beat Moose Lake Area, 7-0

The Becker-Big Lake Eagles opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 7-0 over the Moose Lake Area Rebels.

Tristan Gust had two goals to lead Becker-Big Lake to victory. Gust scored at 8:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Becker-Big Lake and again while 16:23 into the first to make the score 4-0 Becker-Big Lake.

Moose Lake Area was unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Becker-Big Lake eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Eagles surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Becker-Big Lake has scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

Becker-Big Lake additionally got points from Zach Veau, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Becker-Big Lake included Elliott Darsow, who had two and Milan Kent and Nick Stalpes, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Becker-Big Lake were Zach Muller, who had two, Jason Tonneslan, who had three, and Ben Gilchrist, Alec Green, and John Messman, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Eagles to score on any of their three power plays. Becker-Big Lake's defense shut down Moose Lake Area's forwards for much of the game, and the Rebels got off only nine shots during the contest.

Ethan Huber rejected nine shots on goal for the Eagles. Becker-Big Lake ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Moose Lake Area's Gage Mohelsky stopped 33 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Rebels totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
