Albert Lea uses early goal to top Rochester Century, 2-1

Eli Malimanek gave the Albert Lea Tigers the lead in the first period, and the Rochester Century Panthers was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-1.

Albert Lea took over the lead for good with a goal by Malimanek at 12:31 in the first period. Adam Herbst assisted on the tally.

The Tigers were led by Van Zelenak, who grabbed one goal. Zelenak scored 3:04 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Albert Lea. Andrew Thompson picked up the assist.

Rochester Century was unable to stop Albert Lea from sending pucks towards the net, and the Tigers eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Other players who recorded assists for Albert Lea were Darik Weigel, who had one.

The Panthers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Rochester Century ended up below its season average of 8.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Panthers were led by Jacob Roth, who scored the team's only goal. Roth scored 5:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Albert Lea. Matthew Sturchio provided the assist.
