Providence Academy downs Achiever NE Academy, 7-2

Patrick Gage registered one point to lead the Providence Academy Lions to a 7-2 victory over the Achiever NE Academy Aces.

In the losing effort, Achiever NE Academy was led by Cory Sprague, who grabbed two goals. Sprague scored the first of his two goals at 8:38 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Providence Academy. Ryan Finnegan assisted on the tally. Sprague's next tally made the score 2-2 with 9:26 left in the second period. Finnegan provided the assist.

Providence Academy racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Lions surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Providence Academy excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Lions kept the Aces' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jaylen Mitchel made 32 saves on 39 shots. Providence Academy found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Lions average 3.3 goals per game.

Providence Academy additionally got points from Ryan Muurphy, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jack McGinty, who also had one goal and one assist. Providence Academy also had goals scored by Michael Cossette, who had two and Matt Rastaetter and Parker DeRosier, who each put in one. In addition, Providence Academy received assists from Grant Hagstrom and Ryan Tapani, who each chipped in one and Jake Braun and Jack McGeehan, who contributed two a piece.

Achiever NE Academy put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Providence Academy to score on any of its four power plays.

More assists for Achiever NE Academy came via Brennan McGuire and Cameron Hamlet, who each chipped in one.

Nick Pruden rejected 21 shots on goal for the Lions. The Aces incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
