Sydney Lightning uses shootout to best Sydney Maple Leafs, 4-3

Yucca Reinecke scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Sydney Lightning picked up the extra point in a 4-3 win over Sydney Maple Leafs.

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. Sydney Maple Leafs got a shootout goal from Dexter Crowe. Sydney Lightning also got a shootout goal from Chris Shephard.

Cameron Todd was all over the ice for Sydney Lightning, as he had two goals in the win. Todd's tallies came at 43 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Sydney Lightning and 13:02 into the third to make the score 3-3.

Sydney Lightning excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. With 22 shots on target during the contest, Sydney Lightning exceeded the 3.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Sydney Lightning also got a goal from Jake Knott as well. More assists for Sydney Lightning came via Hayden Sheard, who had two and Daniel Pataky and Cian OReilly, who contributed one a piece.

Sydney Maple Leafs struggled to put together a cohesive attack and finished with a mere nine shots over the course of the game. However, Sydney Maple Leafs ripped more shots in the game than the 1.6 per game it averages.

Sydney Maple Leafs was led by Tyler Kubara, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Kubara scored 8:09 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Sydney Maple Leafs. Scott Clemie assisted on the tally. Steven Naidovksi also scored for Sydney Maple Leafs.
