Adelaide Adrenaline pulls away in second, rolls over Brisbane Goannas, 7-2

Brisbane Goannas was within striking distance after one period, but Adelaide Adrenaline put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-2 victory.

Adelaide Adrenaline got the win on the strength of a great game by Andrea Steranko, who had two goals and three assists. Steranko scored the first of her two goals at 6:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Adelaide Adrenaline. Kate Tihema provided the assist. Steranko's next tally made the score 3-0 Adelaide Adrenaline with 9:30 left in the second period. Adelaide Adrenaline played down a man on Taylor Botterill's interference.

By firing 43 shots on goal, Adelaide Adrenaline exceeded the 4.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Adelaide Adrenaline also got points from Tihema, who also tallied two goals and two assists. Others who scored for Adelaide Adrenaline included Kelly Harris, who had one and Bethanie Kavanagh, who had two. In addition, Adelaide Adrenaline received assists from Meg Ayris, who had one.

Brisbane Goannas stifled Adelaide Adrenaline's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 38 shots on target during the contest, Brisbane Goannas exceeded the 1.5 shot it averages per game this year.

Brisbane Goannas was led by Natasha Farrier, who grabbed two goals. Farrier scored the first of her two goals at 10:24 into the third period to make the score 6-1 Adelaide Adrenaline. Tracy Hocutt picked up the assist. Farrier's next tally made the score 7-2 Adelaide Adrenaline with 3:14 left in the third period. Ainslie Gardner provided the assist. More assists for Brisbane Goannas came via Melinda White, who had one.

Claudia Tom rejected 36 shots on goal for Adelaide Adrenaline. Adelaide Adrenaline incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brisbane Goannas' starting goalie, Kristy Bruske, made 33 saves and finished with the loss before she was taken out in favor of Hayley White, who stopped three shots. Brisbane Goannas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
