Adelaide Adrenaline pulls away in second, rolls over Brisbane Goannas, 8-4

Adelaide Adrenaline used a three-goal second period to put away Brisbane Goannas, 8-4.

Andrea Steranko had four goals and one assist to lead Adelaide Adrenaline. Steranko's first goal came 6:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:53 into the first, at 35 seconds into the second, and at 15:21 into the second.

By firing 38 shots on goal, Adelaide Adrenaline exceeded the 5.6 shots it averages per game this year.

Adelaide Adrenaline also got points from Bethanie Kavanagh, who also finished with two goals and three assists, Kirsty Venus, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Sari Lehmann, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Adelaide Adrenaline came via Kate Tihema, who had one and Candice Mitchell, who had two.

Brisbane Goannas put 23 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.3 it averages per game. Brisbane Goannas' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Brisbane Goannas was led by Melanie Brogan, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Brogan scored the first of her two goals on the power play at 3:59 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Brisbane Goannas. Brisbane Goannas had taken the advantage when Adelaide Adrenaline's Meridith Boyce got sent off for roughing. Michelle Clark-Crumpton picked up the assist. Brogan's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 9:10 left in the first period. Tamra Jones provided the assist. Megan Herlihey also scored for Brisbane Goannas. In addition, Brisbane Goannas received assists from Melissa Bibby and Tracy Hocutt, who each chipped in one.

Michelle Coonan recorded 19 saves for Adelaide Adrenaline. Adelaide Adrenaline incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brisbane Goannas' Fiona Jeffrey stopped 30 shots out of the 38 that she faced. Brisbane Goannas incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
