Melbourne Ice relied on the scoring touch of Fances McPhail, who netted two goals, to beat North Star Sirens, 6-2.

McPhail's tallies came short handed at 16:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Melbourne Ice and 9:45 into the second to make the score 3-2 Melbourne Ice.

By firing 37 shots on goal, Melbourne Ice exceeded the 6.7 shots it averages per game this year. Melbourne Ice could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

North Star Sirens was led by Sharna Godfrey, who tallied two goals. Godfrey scored the first of her two goals on the power play at 3:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Melbourne Ice. North Star Sirens earned a power play opportunity when Padjen was put in the box for hooking. Godfrey's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 16:44 left in the second period. North Star Sirens had taken the advantage when Melbourne Ice's Sarah Teed got sent off for high sticking. Amelia Matheson picked up the assist.
