Godfrey nets hat trick, leads North Star Sirens to 8-4 win over Brisbane Goannas

Brisbane Goannas could not stop North Star Sirens' Sharna Godfrey, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-4 win.

Godfrey's first goal came 5:35 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:34 into the second and at 4:58 into the third.

North Star Sirens cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. The 40 shots that North Star Sirens put on net surpassed North Star Sirens' average of 6.7 shots per game this season. North Star Sirens could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

North Star Sirens additionally got points from Amelia Matheson, who also grabbed two goals and two assists and Rachael White, who also registered one goal and one assist. Samantha Lai also scored for North Star Sirens. More assists for North Star Sirens came via Fiona Moon, who had two, Kaylee White, who had three, and Amanda Webber, Remi Harvey, and Laura McOnie, who each chipped in one.

With 26 shots on target during the contest, Brisbane Goannas exceeded the 4.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Brisbane Goannas was led by Michelle Clark-Crumpton, who finished with two goals. Clark-Crumpton scored the first of her two goals at 5:01 into the second period to make the score 3-2 North Star Sirens. Clark-Crumpton's next tally made the score 3-3 with 11:54 left in the second period. An interference penalty on Matheson had put Brisbane Goannas on the power play. Tiffany Samain-Venning provided the assist. Brisbane Goannas also got a goal from Alexandra MacDonald as well. In addition, Brisbane Goannas received assists from Melinda White, who had two and Kylie Clair, Sara Pokolm, and Jo Frankenberger, who contributed one a piece.

North Star Sirens' Sera Dogramaci stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that she faced. Hayley White made 32 saves for Brisbane Goannas on 40 shots. Brisbane Goannas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
