Springfield uses shootout to best Brewster, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Springfield Pics defeated the Brewster Bulldogs in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. Springfield's other shootout goal was scored by Matthew Antonacci.
Brewster's power play was ineffective against the Pics' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.
Springfield racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The Pics had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. Springfield kept the Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Belz made 33 saves on 37 shots.
The Pics were helped by Stefan Koproske, who grabbed one goal. Koproske scored 3:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Springfield. William Carrabino assisted on the tally. Springfield also got a goal from Tom Greene as well. In addition, Springfield received assists from Brandon Korytko, Nicholas Sibilia, Thane Schinabeck, Mario Fontanella, and Robert Smith, who contributed one a piece.
Brewster put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Springfield to score on any of its five power plays. The Pics were unable to stop the Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Brewster eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.
The Bulldogs were helped by Lukas Znosko, who finished with one goal. Znosko scored 7:54 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Sean Henderson also scored for Brewster. More assists for Brewster came via Thomas Kirincic, who had one.
Matthew Blascak recorded 33 saves for Springfield. Brewster incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
