Flint erases deficit to stun Queen City, 5-4

The Flint Jr. Generals climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat the Queen City Steam, 5-4.

Flint never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Jr. Generals was down 4-1 after a power play goal by Queen City's Devin Fracassi at 7:50 in the third period. Flint tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Zachery Hill at 13:08 in the third period. The Jr. Generals netted the game winner at 18:41 in the third period on a goal by Hill.

Hill had two goals to lead Flint to victory.

The Jr. Generals racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Flint surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jr. Generals' offense rang up 35 shots on the Steam's net. Flint struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Queen City to score three power play goals on five chances.

Flint additionally got points from Jacob Howie, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Flint also got a goal from Phillip Garza as well. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Edward Osowski, who had one and Nicholas Goetel and Nicholas Gnagni, who contributed two a piece.

The Steam were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game Queen City had been spending in the box. The Steam excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances.

Queen City was helped by Nick Brusa, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Brusa scored on the power play 19:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Queen City. The Steam earned a power play opportunity when Hill was put in the box for boarding. Eric Woodward provided the assist. Queen City also got points from Fracassi, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jonah Hoover, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Paul McAvoy also scored for Queen City. More assists for Queen City came via Stephen Pack, who had one.

The Jr. Generals' Ted Barile stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Zak Kemble made 30 saves for Queen City on 35 shots.
