Powell's big game bests Battle Creek in 7-3 Twin City win

The Twin City Steel's Marvin Powell had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-3 win over the Battle Creek Revolution.

Powell's tallies came at 15:36 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Twin City and 17:39 into the first to make the score 4-1 Twin City.

Battle Creek's power play was ineffective against Twin City's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Steel kept the Revolution's goalie busy throughout the game, and Trevor Beck made 26 saves on 33 shots. Twin City surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Steel average 3.7 goals per game. Twin City struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 60 penalty minutes for 12 opposing power plays.

Twin City also got points from Tyler Lodin, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Nick Cerrato, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Tom Bartel, who also had one goal and one assist. Brody Peterson also scored for Twin City. In addition, Twin City received assists from Trey Hughes, who had two, Justin Brown, who had three, and Isaac Hale, Noah Anderson, Shane Hill, and Ryan Brown, who each chipped in one.

Battle Creek could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Revolution were helped by Joey Lioy, who tallied one goal. Lioy scored on the power play 11:09 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Battle Creek had taken the advantage when the Steel's Powell got sent off for kneeing. Stephen Comperchi provided the assist. Battle Creek additionally got points from Kyle Ward, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Battle Creek also got a goal from Austin Hill as well. More assists for Battle Creek came via Jacob Rosek, James Romberger, and Zach Rees, who contributed one a piece.

Twin City's Sawyer Marshall stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Steel registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Revolution ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Eric Tucker was ejected from the game.
