St. Louis survives Flint comeback, wins 4-3

The Flint Jr. Generals tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the St. Louis Jr. Blues would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

St. Louis made the score 4-2 on a goal by Mike Lozano at 19:32 in the second period, and Flint got as close as 4-3 when Phillip Garza scored 14:22 into the third period.

The Jr. Blues were led by Lozano, who registered one goal.

St. Louis' offense rang up 39 shots on the Jr. Generals' net. The Jr. Blues had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 11 chances. St. Louis got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

St. Louis also got a goal from Kyle Meeh as well. In addition, St. Louis received assists from Joey Luongo, Jeremy Edwards, Trace Jablin, Victor Gortz, and Sam Turner, who each chipped in one.

Flint could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. The Jr. Generals were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 10 chances.

Flint was helped by Brett Leppek, who grabbed one goal. Leppek scored 12:53 into the second period to make the score 3-2 St. Louis. Casey Barile assisted on the tally. Flint also got points from Nicholas Gnagni, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Adrain Larsson, James Odom, and Lucas McDiarimid, who contributed one a piece.

Clint Steinmeyer made 24 saves for the Jr. Blues on 27 shots. St. Louis incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Jr. Generals' Ted Barile stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that he faced.
