Michigan Ice Dogs blows out Michigan Grrrowl, 12-7

Michigan Ice Dogs had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 12-7 win over Michigan Grrrowl.

With four goals and two assists between them, Zachary Bess and James Subu teamed up to power Michigan Ice Dogs' offense. Bess tallied two goals and one assist and Subu also notched two goals and one assist.

Michigan Ice Dogs' offense rang up 39 shots on Michigan Grrrowl's net. Michigan Ice Dogs found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Michigan Ice Dogs has scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Michigan Ice Dogs' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Michigan Ice Dogs also got points from Cody Brent, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Subu, who also had two goals and one assist, Adam Pinkowski, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Arron Podbielniak, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Michigan Ice Dogs also had goals scored by Derek Fitzpatrick Jr, who had two and Alexander Stewart and Mark Rotondo, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan Ice Dogs were Tyler Textor, who had five, Jacob Murray and Anthony Miotto, who each chipped in one, and Cameron Kucharski and Hunter Ledgerwood, who contributed two a piece.

Michigan Grrrowl forced Michigan Ice Dogs' goalies to work without much rest, launching 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Colton Lewicki made 14 stops and Andrew Freeman made 14. Michigan Grrrowl excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Michigan Grrrowl bested its season scoring average. Michigan Grrrowl averages 3.6 goals per game.

Michigan Grrrowl was led by Jordan Lones, who had two goals and two assists. Lones scored the first of his two goals at 9:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan Grrrowl. Chad Cobb picked up the assist. Lones' next tally made the score 4-3 Michigan Ice Dogs with 19:37 left in the second period. Michigan Grrrowl had taken the advantage when Michigan Ice Dogs' Subu got sent off for checking from behind. Tristan Cruz assisted on the tally. Michigan Grrrowl additionally got points from Cruz, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Kyle Cobb, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Cobb, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Vaughn Clouston also scored for Michigan Grrrowl. More assists for Michigan Grrrowl came via Julian Willbey, Steven Kubas, Zachary Cruz, James Stacey Jr, and Grant McCormack, who each chipped in one.

Michigan Ice Dogs ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. George Betz made 27 saves for Michigan Grrrowl on 39 shots. Michigan Grrrowl totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
