Huge game by Luca boosts Hartland Hounds over Bloomington Blaze, 5-2

Scott Luca had two goals and one assist to lead Hartland Hounds to a 5-2 victory over Bloomington Blaze.

Luca scored at 5:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 17:13 into the second to make the score 3-2 Hartland Hounds.

Hartland Hounds pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 43 penalty minutes.

Bloomington Blaze was unable to stop Hartland Hounds from sending pucks towards the net, and Hartland Hounds eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. The defense for Hartland Hounds tightened up when it had players in the penalty box, as it let in one goal on 11 Bloomington Blaze power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Hartland Hounds also got points from Jacob Henrikson, who also registered two goals and one assist. Jared Vincek also scored for Hartland Hounds. More assists for Hartland Hounds came via Thomas Kerr, who had two, Alexander Grizzel, who had three, and Cameron Miglia, Paul Krystyniak, and Collin Myers, who contributed one a piece.

Bloomington Blaze forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and four majors for 58 minutes in penalty time. Bloomington Blaze surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Bloomington Blaze did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Bloomington Blaze puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game.

Bloomington Blaze was helped by Steven Smoltz, who grabbed one goal. Smoltz scored 12:47 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Joseph Clemente provided the assist. Bloomington Blaze also got a goal from Edgars Ozolinsh as well. In addition, Bloomington Blaze received assists from Patrick Anaruk, who had one.

Andrew Brownlee recorded 28 saves for Hartland Hounds. Hartland Hounds registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Bloomington Blaze's William Rohleder stopped 39 shots out of the 44 that he faced.
