Soo Firehawks beats Holland River Bandits 9-2 as Murphy gets hat trick

Holland River Bandits could not stop Soo Firehawks' Nicholas Murphy, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-2 win.

Murphy notched his first tally 5:55 into the second period. He then added goals at 1:31 into the third and at 9:39 into the third.

Soo Firehawks forced Holland River Bandits' goaltenders to work all game long, totaling 55 shots and forcing 46 saves. Andrew Zuckerman made 38 stops and Kent Nusbaum made eight. Soo Firehawks bested its season scoring average. Soo Firehawks has scored at the pace of 5.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Soo Firehawks had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 11 chances.

Soo Firehawks additionally got points from Andrew Holder, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Ryan Marshall, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Alexander Drulia, who also had one goal and two assists. Soo Firehawks also had goals scored by James Goudreau, who had one and Lucas McLeod, who had two. In addition, Soo Firehawks received assists from Lucas Wizauer and Brandt Miller, who each chipped in one and Matthew Majic, Cody Anderson, and John Barlow, who contributed two a piece.

Holland River Bandits was held below its usual level of production. Holland River Bandits averages 4.7 goals per game. Holland River Bandits' offense rang up 31 shots on Soo Firehawks' net.
