Huge game by Killips boosts Soo Firehawks over Holland River Bandits, 7-2

Kevin Killips was all over the ice for Soo Firehawks, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Soo Firehawks' 7-2 win over Holland River Bandits.

Killips scored 7:58 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Soo Firehawks. Michael Mullen provided the assist. Killips dished an assist on Alexander Drulia's goal that made the score 1-1 at 17:29 into the first period. He added another helper on Nicholas Murphy's goal that made the score 4-2 Soo Firehawks at 10:31 into the second period.

Soo Firehawks made Holland River Bandits' goalies to work all game long, racking up 50 shots and forcing 43 saves. Brendon Hanser made 33 stops and Andrew Zuckerman made 10.

Soo Firehawks also got points from Drulia, who also had two goals and one assist, James Goudreau, who also registered one goal and one assist, John Barlow, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Murphy, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Soo Firehawks also got a goal from Brandt Miller as well. In addition, Soo Firehawks received assists from Cody Anderson, who had one and Ryan Marshall, who had two.

Holland River Bandits' offense operated below it season average. Holland River Bandits averages 4.8 goals per game.

Holland River Bandits was helped by Abram Prince, who grabbed one goal. Prince scored five seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Holland River Bandits. Bryce Stenstrom picked up the assist. Jonathon Symons also scored for Holland River Bandits. Other players who recorded assists for Holland River Bandits were Alexander Devries and Greg Balsam, who contributed one a piece.

Soo Firehawks' Brandon Hansen stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Soo Firehawks totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Holland River Bandits totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
