Bloomington Blaze pulls away in second, rolls over G L Lightning, 13-3

G L Lightning was within striking distance after one period, but Bloomington Blaze put the pedal down in the second en route to a 13-3 victory.

Matt Donley had two goals and three assists to lead Bloomington Blaze. Donley scored the first of his two goals at 5:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Patrick Anaruk picked up the assist. Donley's next tally made the score 3-1 Bloomington Blaze with 18:01 left in the second period. Joseph Clemente provided the assist.

Bloomington Blaze made G L Lightning's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 66 shots and forcing 53 saves. Jeff LaBaere made 37 stops and Colin Walsh made 16. Bloomington Blaze surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Bloomington Blaze averages 4.7 goals per game.

Bloomington Blaze also got points from Drew Daley, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Cody Philips, who also had one goal and one assist, Clemente, who also registered four goals and one assist, Tyler Gehrken, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Anaruk, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kyler Schmor also scored for Bloomington Blaze. In addition, Bloomington Blaze received assists from Edgars Ozolinsh, who had four, Steven Smoltz, who had six, and Kyle Kabacinski and Luis Lopez, who contributed one a piece.

G L Lightning was helped by Jacob Bradley, who finished with one goal. Bradley scored 3:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 G L Lightning. G L Lightning also got a goal from Eric Roche as well. More assists for G L Lightning came via Anthony Fiore, who had two and Austin Postek and Garrett Avery, who each chipped in one.

Bloomington Blaze's William Rohleder stopped 13 shots out of the 16 that he faced. Bloomington Blaze incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. G L Lightning avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of two power plays.
