Soo Firehawks rolls over Rhinelander Street Cats, 6-2

Soo Firehawks had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Rhinelander Street Cats.

Soo Firehawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rhinelander Street Cats to score on any of its three power plays. Soo Firehawks kept Rhinelander Street Cats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Rushan Guinuillin made 56 saves on 62 shots.

Soo Firehawks was led by Nicholas Murphy, who registered one goal and one assist. Murphy scored 11:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Soo Firehawks. Soo Firehawks also got a goal from Anthony Laaksonen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Soo Firehawks were Matthew Majic, who had two and Brandt Miller, Andrew Holder, Cody Anderson, and Alexander Drulia, who contributed one a piece.

Rhinelander Street Cats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Rhinelander Street Cats could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Rhinelander Street Cats puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Rhinelander Street Cats forced Soo Firehawks goalie John Posler to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

Rhinelander Street Cats was helped by Aleksandr Ilin, who finished with one goal. Ilin scored 11:01 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Soo Firehawks. David Wandell picked up the assist. Dmitry Lvov also scored for Rhinelander Street Cats. More assists for Rhinelander Street Cats came via Cody Schatzman, who had two.
