Soo Firehawks rolls over Holland River Bandits, 10-3

Soo Firehawks had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-3 win over Holland River Bandits.

Soo Firehawks got the win with help from a great game by John Barlow, who had one goal and two assists. Barlow scored short handed 6:50 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Soo Firehawks. Soo Firehawks was on a disadvantage when Taylor McRorie went off the ice for slashing. Matthew MacLaren provided the assist.

Soo Firehawks racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. Soo Firehawks had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. Soo Firehawks kept Holland River Bandits' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jeromy Semtner made 43 saves on 53 shots. Soo Firehawks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Soo Firehawks has scored at the pace of 5.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Soo Firehawks additionally got points from Andrew Holder, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Alexander Drulia, who also grabbed three goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Anthony Laaksonen, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Lucas McLeod, who also had one goal and one assist. Matthew Majic also scored for Soo Firehawks. More assists for Soo Firehawks came via Tyler Goetz, Brandon Hansen, James Goudreau, and Brandt Miller, who each chipped in one and Lucas Wizauer and Quinton Myotte, who contributed two a piece.

Holland River Bandits excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Soo Firehawks was unable to stop Holland River Bandits from sending pucks towards the net, and Holland River Bandits eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Holland River Bandits was helped by Abram Prince, who finished with one goal. Prince scored on the power play 15:51 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Soo Firehawks. Holland River Bandits earned a power play opportunity when Ryan Marshall was put in the box for abuse of officials. Kameron Fowler picked up the assist. Holland River Bandits also got a goal from Cory Bussing as well. In addition, Holland River Bandits received assists from Cameron Benson, who had one.

Hansen rejected 35 shots on goal for Soo Firehawks. Holland River Bandits totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
