Soo Firehawks blows out Holland River Bandits, 8-2

Soo Firehawks had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over Holland River Bandits.

Lucas McLeod was all over the ice for Soo Firehawks, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. McLeod scored the first of his two goals at 19:35 into the second period to make the score 6-2 Soo Firehawks. Andrew Holder picked up the assist. McLeod's next tally made the score 7-2 Soo Firehawks with 11:27 left in the third period. James Goudreau assisted on the tally.

Soo Firehawks pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Soo Firehawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Holland River Bandits to score on any of its six power plays. Holland River Bandits was unable to stop Soo Firehawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Soo Firehawks eventually piled up 87 shots on goal. Soo Firehawks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Soo Firehawks averages 5.7 goals per game.

Soo Firehawks also got points from Holder, who also racked up three goals and one assist and Trevor McRorie, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Soo Firehawks also got a goal from Alexander Drulia as well. In addition, Soo Firehawks received assists from Matthew MacLaren, Anthony Laaksonen, John Barlow, and Brandt Miller, who contributed one a piece and Ryan Marshall and Michael Mullen, who each chipped in two.

Holland River Bandits was held below its usual level of production. Holland River Bandits puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. Holland River Bandits forced Soo Firehawks goalie Keegan McGraw to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Holland River Bandits was helped by Abram Prince, who registered one goal. Prince scored 12:34 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Soo Firehawks. Cory Bussing picked up the assist. Holland River Bandits additionally got points from Bussing, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Holland River Bandits came via Alexander Devries, who had one.
