Holland River Bandits' comeback falls short, Soo Firehawks wins 5-3

Soo Firehawks, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Soo Firehawks and clinched a 5-3 victory.

Soo Firehawks led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Soo Firehawks' Ryan Marshall's scored at 3:55 in the second period to put Soo Firehawks up 4-1.

Nicholas Murphy had two goals and one assist to lead Soo Firehawks. Murphy scored the first of his two goals at 4:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Soo Firehawks. Matthew Majic assisted on the tally. Murphy's next tally made the score 3-1 Soo Firehawks with 16:32 left in the second period.

Soo Firehawks forced Holland River Bandits' netminders to work all game long, firing 53 shots and forcing 48 saves. John Posler made 28 stops and Brendon Hanser made 20. Soo Firehawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 29 minutes in penalties during the game.

Soo Firehawks also got a goal from Anthony Laaksonen as well. In addition, Soo Firehawks received assists from Cody Anderson, Alexander Drulia, James Goudreau, and John Barlow, who contributed one a piece.

Holland River Bandits excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Holland River Bandits' offense rang up 34 shots on Soo Firehawks' net.

Holland River Bandits was led by Alexander Devries, who finished with one goal and one assist. Devries scored 13:47 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Soo Firehawks. Abram Prince picked up the assist. Bailey Rietman also scored for Holland River Bandits. Other players who recorded assists for Holland River Bandits were Parker Michels and Cory Bussing, who each chipped in one.

Brandon Hansen rejected 31 shots on goal for Soo Firehawks. Holland River Bandits totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play.
