Bloomington Blaze completes comeback, beats Rhinelander Street Cats, 5-4

Bloomington Blaze rallied from four goals down to secure a 5-4 win over Rhinelander Street Cats.

Bloomington Blaze never led in the game until netting the game winner. Bloomington Blaze fell behind 4-0 after a goal by Rhinelander Street Cats' Nicholas Fleming at 17:50 in the second period. Bloomington Blaze tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Matt Donley at 6:15 in the third period. Bloomington Blaze scored the game winner at 7:18 in the third period on a goal by Donley.

Patrick Anaruk had two goals to lead Bloomington Blaze to victory.

Bloomington Blaze forced Rhinelander Street Cats' netminders to work all game long, racking up 36 shots and forcing 31 saves. Spencer Brasswell made 27 stops and Rushan Guinuillin made four. Bloomington Blaze put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rhinelander Street Cats to score on any of its six power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Bloomington Blaze additionally got points from Donley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Bloomington Blaze also got a goal from Sherman Lovett as well. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington Blaze were Drew Daley, who had two and Jacob Lourash, Joseph Clemente, Tanner Vallon, Steven Smoltz, and Tyler Gehrken, who contributed one a piece.

Rhinelander Street Cats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Bloomington Blaze was unable to stop Rhinelander Street Cats from sending pucks towards the net, and Rhinelander Street Cats eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The defensemen of Rhinelander Street Cats were also effective in Bloomington Blaze's zone, and came away with two goals.

Rhinelander Street Cats was led by Aleksandr Ilin, who had one goal and one assist. Ilin scored 12:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rhinelander Street Cats. Dmitry Lvov assisted on the tally. Dylan Farmer also scored for Rhinelander Street Cats. More assists for Rhinelander Street Cats came via Todd Houtari, who had two and Devin Vanderwyk and Peter Carlin, who each chipped in one.

Gavin Carlson rejected 36 shots on goal for Bloomington Blaze. Bloomington Blaze ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Rhinelander Street Cats ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
