Bloomington Blaze survives Holland River Bandits comeback, wins 4-2

Holland River Bandits tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Bloomington Blaze held on for a 4-2 victory.

Bloomington Blaze made the score 4-1 on a goal by Steven Smoltz at 15:26 in the third period, and Holland River Bandits got as close as 4-2 when Bryce Stenstrom scored 16:36 into the third period.

Bloomington Blaze got the win with help from a great game by Matt Donley, who had one goal and two assists. Donley scored 9:07 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Bloomington Blaze. Luis Lopez provided the assist.

Bloomington Blaze's offense rang up 42 shots on Holland River Bandits' net.

Bloomington Blaze additionally got points from Joseph Clemente, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Smoltz, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Patrick Anaruk also scored for Bloomington Blaze. More assists for Bloomington Blaze came via Tyler Gehrken, who had one.

Holland River Bandits put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bloomington Blaze to score on any of its three power plays. Holland River Bandits forced Bloomington Blaze goalie Gavin Carlson to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Holland River Bandits also got a goal from Alexander Devries as well. In addition, Holland River Bandits received assists from Cameron Fisher, who had one.

Carlson recorded 33 saves for Bloomington Blaze. Bloomington Blaze ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Holland River Bandits' John Posler stopped 38 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Holland River Bandits totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
