Hartland Hounds holds on for 5-3 win against Michigan Ice Dogs

Michigan Ice Dogs tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Hartland Hounds held on for a 5-3 victory.

Hartland Hounds made the score 5-2 on a goal by Jared Vincek at 12:36 in the second period, and Michigan Ice Dogs got as close as 5-3 when Corey Suba scored 3:34 into the third period.

Hartland Hounds got the win with help from a great game by Cameron Miglia, who had one goal and two assists. Miglia scored 10:36 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Hartland Hounds. Andrew Brownlee assisted on the tally.

The Hartland Hounds penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and four majors for 62 minutes in penalty time. Hartland Hounds had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Hartland Hounds additionally got points from Thomas Kerr, who also registered one goal and one assist and Vincek, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Scott Augustyn also scored for Hartland Hounds. Other players who recorded assists for Hartland Hounds were Tyler Thirlby, Paul Krystyniak, Garrett Cebalt, and Matthew Passino, who each chipped in one.

Michigan Ice Dogs racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and three majors for 35 minutes in penalty time. Michigan Ice Dogs surpassed its season average of 31.0 penalty minutes per game. Michigan Ice Dogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Michigan Ice Dogs was helped by Alexander Stewart, who finished with one goal. Stewart scored 5:58 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Hartland Hounds. James Subu picked up the assist. Michigan Ice Dogs also got a goal from Ashton Guy as well. More assists for Michigan Ice Dogs came via Hunter Ledgerwood, who had two and Tyler Textor and Joshua Arnold, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Brownlee made 26 saves for Hartland Hounds on 29 shots. For Hartland Hounds, Ethan Doyle and Zachary Bodziak were ejected from the contest. Michigan Ice Dogs' starting goalie, Andrew Freeman, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Colton Lewicki, who stopped eight shots. Michigan Ice Dogs registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
